In our prominent generation of iPhones, Samsungs, and a few others; there aren’t many smartphones that can make us flip.
I recently wrote about a few phones at the Mobile World Congress and even that beautiful Blackberry that made a comeback recently. However, are they good enough to make us forget about the S9’s and iPhone X’s?
Huawei P20 Pro
You mind just staring at that for a second? Isn’t it beautiful?
The Huawei’s P Series has always focused on photography, which is why it’s safe to assume that the P20 Pro targets specifically that. This Leica Triple Camera promises an advanced camera system with intelligent photography.
Available in 4 colours, the P20 is made from curved 3D glass and is of course, water resistant.
With a 6.1 inch OLED display, Huawei promises that the P20 Pro “beats the competition in virtually every category”. They also go as far as to state that “if you’re looking for the current best camera in a smartphone, look no further” – but all companies say the same, don’t they?
The P20 Pro is packed with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and fits perfectly in your hand.
Best camera ever?
Not 10, not 12, not 20 (weird, since it’s in the name), but the P20 Pro carries an incredible 40 megapixel camera with tremendous detail on sharpness, colour accuracy, focus, and contrast.
Let me show you a few examples on how the P20 Pro compares as far as image quality goes.

To further improve on the beautiful camera, this Huawei bad boy comes with 5X hybrid zoom, for you to catch incredible detail at a distance as well.
“Live images” **cough** like the iPhone **cough**, AI image stabilization, night mode, slow motion, and a 24 MP front camera for your selfies, should be enough to impress absolutely anyone.
Other likes & Other dislikes
With a 4000 mAh battery and fast-charge ability, expect the P20 to last quite some time before dying out on you.
Huawei has been known to imitate iPhone features, we’ve seen so in tons of phones. But the P20 promises (albeit similar features) much more, specially in that camera that it packs.
Sure I mean, no headphone jack, a huge screen that might not be accessible enough for our short thumbs, a slippery feel to the phone, and a huge bump on the back to allow for the camera might be a bit intimidating, but an $800 price tag on a phone that might compete with today’s giants is definitely worth it.
Side note – if you need any more convincing, just keep in mind that Huawei sold over $15 million worth of P20 devices in .. wait for it .. 10 flipping seconds.
