SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY (CO-OP!!!)

Nintendo Switch is trying to make a bigger impact - and what better way than reintroducing one of the classics, with a twist? (Hint: NEW CHARACTER ALERT)

“It’s-a me, Mario!”

If you didn’t laugh at that, do you even meme?

So for those who think the whole “Mario” lifestyle is done – think again. I’m sure most, if not all of you, grew up playing the “Mario” classics.

Alternating between Mario and Luigi… Trying not to die with your own shells… Getting eaten by a plant right when you became bigger or got a fireball power-up…

There were bright sides to all of this though! Fighting for Peach (honestly how do we know she even wanted to be rescued); defeating Bowser… it’s all fun and games after you’ve died 20 times and go “Oh! NOW I know how to win“!

And of course, the other favourites

Super Mario Party and Mario Kart have got to be my two favourite Mario based games and if you ever forced me to choose one, I don’t think we could be friends anymore.

I recently played a Mario game for Nintendo Switch but for the life of me can’t remember what the title was. However, long story short: I lost a lot.

Anywho, we’re here to discuss one thing and one thing alone: Super Mario Odyssey. The new Super Mario game is releasing on October 27th (#hype) and is an exploration-based game like in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine!

Now, in Super Mario Odyssey we see a new character called Cappy. Cappy is … well, Mario’s cap (#creativity #originality #it’s-a-Cappy). This little accessory comes with cartoon eyes and the ability to transform into the different characters in Mario (your favourite Goomba too). This little trailer should sum it up quite nicely!

The “CO-OP” part of it is what’s most interesting to me though. Now if your pesky little sibling wants to play with you and your mom is now forcing you to let him, you can let them control Cappy or Mario!

Of course, you can always kick them out of the room and deal with the consequences later. But who knows, maybe the little-version-of-you is actually good at video games!

P.S. Apparently Mario becomes a dinosaur at some point – and rumours have it this might be the last Mario game we ever see – so enjoy it!

We’ve seen games get popular and eventually “fade away”, but we don’t expect all to fade away, not when they’ve formed such a huge part of our teenage life.
