WWDC 2017: What does Apple have for us now?

Share Article

We've seen iPods, iPads, iPhones, and iMacs. We're living in the era of technology, and with so many competitors, will Apple improve their masterpieces?

Not sure about you, but being huge Apple fans, we look forward to the WWDC with great anticipation every year.

For those unclear on what we’re talking about,

Worldwide Developer Conference

WWDC

Just like in previous years, we could be expecting updated versions of the famous iOS, macOS; new iPads even, and all that fun stuff.

Sure, all that fancy new equipment that Apple plans on unveiling tomorrow is only a few (well, many “few”s) hundred dollars more than we can afford, but the pure fascination lies in merely appreciating innovation from the minds of experts.

What can we expect to see at the WWDC?

Obviously, nothing is a 100% confirmed, but we’ve rounded up the most talked about rumours for today’s event.

Siri-Speaker

(Hopefully that’s not the name for it because it is awfully original and creative)

siri speaker

Amazon Echo? Google Home? These are soon to be things of the past. The Siri Speaker is going to be able to perform all of the tasks she can currently do on your phone (check the weather, play music), as well as be a hub for your smart home devices!

Bloomberg believes that the audio quality on this gadget is to be far better than the one on its rivals.

Unfortunately, we expect this to be priced higher than the Amazon Echo and that might be a deal breaker for many.

MacBook (Pro)

With the high success rate of Microsoft’s Surface Laptop, Apple has decided to step it up a few notches on this one. We might even see the 12-inch MacBook Airs making a comeback with some hardware bump!

With the seventh-generation Intel Core, we expect processors to be beyond fast, while still controlling battery life. And if that’s not fast enough, some say we might even see Apple allow a 32GB RAM expansion. Woah.

We don’t expect to see these bad boys till 2018 though, so start saving up!

iPad Pro

iPad pros

Is the 12.9 inch iPad Pro too big for you?

Is the 9.7 inch iPad Pro too small for you?

Apple feels that a 10.5 inch screen might be the answer to all of your problems. And hey! If you rather have a 10.4 inch or a 10.6 inch, give it a year; maybe Apple releases another model or two!

With the new size, comes new speed. Faster processor, and a higher resolution display. We expect it to be priced similarly to current models (~$600+).

Our favourite – iOS 11

Gosh. Doesn’t that picture look just magisterial?

  • Smarter Siri: With Google Assistant and Samsung Bixby advancing so much, Siri has been left behind for far too long. NO MORE.
  • Better Apple Music (not that anyone really uses it).
  • FaceTime will now support …. group video calls. Yes, we know. This might be the best update ever.
  • Revamped low power mode to simply not ask you if you want to turn it on, and just automatically do it for you; because who needs your permission anyway?
  • Dark mode. This is one of our favourites. Tired of everything being all white and bright and happy? No more. Black backgrounds everywhere for that deep and empty soul.

Of course, all of this is just the highlight of everything we’re going to see in a while (or have already seen?).

Is there anything you’re looking forward to?
